Can you guys believe it’s already November? CRAZY! If you’re like me, November feels like the official kick-off month to the Holiday season. And while I have strict rules about not decorating for Christmas until after Thanksgiving (give that poor turkey the glorious moment it deserves). There are some small things I begin planning in November that ensures a less-hectic December.
Let’s talk Christmas cards!
I have a confession.
I’m the person who used to NEVER get Christmas/Holiday cards sent out. Yep, that’s right, I admit it. Chronic non-Christmas card giver here. Every year I would proclaim, we are sending out Christmas cards this year, no matter what! And every year upon opening an abundance of joyous cards from friends and family, time got away from me. And sadly, the love wasn’t being reciprocated by The Yoder’s. I used to wonder how the heck everyone else has time to create these beautiful, thoughtful gestures of love on a card?
Why couldn’t I get my act together?
There is a simple answer. Poor planning on my part.
I thought I was doing myself a favor by avoiding the “Christmas Creep.” And every year, Holiday cards weren’t on my radar until after November 23rd. And you know, the cards start to roll in shortly after that! NO wonder I couldn’t get it together. Sending out Holiday cards takes a little time and a little planning. Especially if you intend on snapping a decent picture of the fam. Even my dog closes her eyes in pictures!! (see image below) HA!
Why am I dedicated to taking the time to send the people I love and care about a simple card?
Because there’s something so special about opening a holiday card. Maybe it’s seeing a picture of that family member you wish you’d get to see more. Or perhaps it’s getting a card from a friend whom although you don’t see or talk to often, still holds a special place in your heart, and just knowing that they’re thinking of you is the best gift of all.
Placing all of these special cards on my refrigerator places something bigger in my heart.
It’s more than a card; it’s a reminder of the love and joy behind the people who sent the card. It’s the incredible sense of gratitude that fills my soul every time I pass by and see the gift of family and friendship hanging in my kitchen. And it’s a symbol that the most precious things in life are the simple things. I’m not missing the opportunity to send out Holiday cards again. That doesn’t mean that I’m “Christmas creeping” and forgetting the glorious feast of Thanksgiving. It means, I’m taking some time in November to show everyone I’m thinking of them in December. Sending a Holiday card is our tiny gesture of the big love we have for the amazing people in our lives.
And by doing just a little planning, our Christmas cards are ready!

Ah! Can we talk about how cute our cards turned out?
I must say, creating my photo Christmas card on Basic Invite was such a great experience. I’m so impressed with how easy the whole process was!
And the quality… amazing! Basic Invite is such a unique company, with a fantastic selection of beautiful Holiday cards. Any style or theme you could possibly think of, they have! They also have a gorgeous collection of foil stamped holiday cards that are stunning.
Perhaps my favorite thing about creating my printed Holiday cards on their site was the unlimited color options that allowed me to customize my card just the way I wanted. And with an instant preview! Once I choose my design, I had the option to change each element to make it just the way I wanted, even down to the smallest detail. Speaking of details, can we talk about the cute print detail on the back of my card!? SO fun!
Seriously, everything was customizable. Another fun tidbit was that I was able to have my return address printed on the envelope and choose the color of my envelopes! I loved this. To me, it was just a little bonus to make the card stand out before my loved ones even opened it.
The whole process on Basic Invite was simple and enjoyable! Shipping was SO, quick, and I was super impressed with the quality. And what’s better than that? How about saving some money!? You can use code HOLI30 and save 30% on your order! Yay for discounts :). I feel such a sense of relief by getting this done early. And more than that, I feel a sense of love knowing the joy these cards will bring to the wonderful people in our lives, near and far.
Have any of you started thinking about Holiday cards yet? I would love the hear what your favorite thing is about receiving a card in the mail!?

Your Christmas cards look so good! My Christmas cards end up being more like New Years cards because it always takes me a few extra weeks to get them out.

Hi Kate! Thank you so much :). Haha, I know that feeling. That’s why I decided to start making mine in November! But at least you get them out, it’s the thought that counts, right!?

These cards are so cute! I’ve been terrible in recent years, seeing Christmas cards as a chore rather than something enjoyable… but I think having them personalised like this makes such a big difference! By the way your dog is adorable 🖤

Hi Tiffany! Ohh thank you :). I used to feel the same way, mostly because I would wait until the last minute and then feel stressed about it. Starting early and having fun with it makes the process so much more enjoyable! And you are so right, a personal touch makes a big difference!
